Simply Apple Crisp

Apple Crisp topped with Vanilla Ice Cream

I absolutely love apple recipes!  The apple crisp is a favorite of mine since you can have it for breakfast or dessert.  Who am I kidding?  You can have it at any time of day or night.  I have to admit to sometimes waking up at 2am and stealing a snack from the kitchen.  Anyhow, I think you'll love this recipe for it's simplicity.






Ingredients:

10 cups of peeled, cored and sliced apples (your choice, but granny smith's are great for cooking)
1 Cup - White Sugar
1 TB - Flour
1 Tsp - Allspice
1 Tsp - Vanilla Extract
1/2 Cup - Water
1 Cup - Quick-cooking Oats
1 Cup - Flour
1 Cup - Packed Brown Sugar
1/4 Tsp - Baking Powder
1/4 Tsp - Baking Soda
1/2 Cup - Melted Butter

Ice cream topping is optional, but highly recommended!

1. Preheat Oven to 350 degrees F.

2. Place the apples in a 9x13 inch casserole dish.  Mix the white sugar, 1 TB flour and Allspice together and sprinkle over the apples. Combine the water and vanilla extract and pour evenly over apples. 

3. Combine the oats, 1 cup flour, brown sugar, baking powder and soda with melted butter.  You will then crumble them over the apple mixture.

4. Bake at 350 degrees F for 40 - 45 minutes.
