Simply Cornbread

Cornbread

In the south cornbread is served with every meal and rightfully so. This simple recipe will be great with any meal or serve it just by its self. This recipe comes from Darrick's family, the first memory that comes to his mind is Sunday dinner, with his mom pulling the hot cornbread out of the oven.

Here is what you will need :

1 1/2 cups corn meal
1 1/2 tsp salt
1 tsp baking powder
2 eggs, beaten
1 1/4 cups butter milk
2 tbsp melted shortening

Combine the dry ingredients: corn meal, salt, baking powder, in a bowl and mix, then add into the dry mixture the eggs, butter milk and melted shortening. Mix evenly then pour into a hot greased skillet, place in a 400F oven for 20 minutes.
